The Eastern and Southern Africa Regional Office (ESARO) located in Nairobi, Kenya; coordinates and supervises UNICEF’s work in 21 countries: Angola, Botswana, Burundi, Comoros, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Rwanda, Somalia, South Africa, South Sudan, Swaziland, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
ESARO’s work is organised around UNICEF’s key priorities in the region: Young Child Survival and Development, Children and AIDS, Basic Education and Gender Equality, Child Protection, and Emergency Preparedness and Response.
The ESARO Nairobi office approached K&i to design their report, and a look and feel that would highlight their different key priorities, actions and results.
A new illustrative direction was developed, using a ‘paper-cut’ style, in a fun and simplistic approach. A selection of UNICEF brand colours was used to assign each section and assist in navigation throughout the report.
